Congrats to new SBGi brown, purp & blue belt!

Big congratulations due to a new SBGi BJJ brown belt. This Friday (May 9th) I had the great privilage of handing out what is only the third ever brown belt to come out of the Portland Gym. Longtime Portland student and Instructor Cane Prevost recieved his well deserved brown belt in BJJ. Cane has been on the mat consistently for the last 8 Years or so, and those that have rolled with him recently are well aware of how far his own game has come. In addition to that he is also one of the best Coaches and teachers we have. So he has all the qualities I look for in my brown belts, an indepth understanding of the whole BJJ game (position, leverage, gi, no-gi, etc), and the ability to pass it along to others. Cane went through a grueling ironman session at the Gym (as is our tradition), and was game all the way to the end.

In addition I was also proud to hand out two additional belts. A well deserved purple belt went to John Diggins. John recently smoked the advanced and absolute divisions of the Submission League (a creation of Karl Tanswell & Rosi Sexton's genius), and there is no doubt that his game is rock solid right now.

I also gave out a well deserved blue belt to Hamilton. Who is the Portland Gym's newest monster on the mat.

I couldn't be prouder of all three of these guys, all of whom represent what the Portland Gym (and SBGi as a whole) is all about.
